We are back from our 5-day Basic Sailing course, and both achieved our Sail Canada Basic Cruising Standard cert. I want to give a huge thank you to Gord . He is an outstanding instructor, patient, well-spoken and his course is very well structured; he has many years of local and offshore experience that he draws upon to teach, and his sailboat is perfectly set up for showing the details of successful sailing. Vicky was new to sailing and was very nervous about the experience.   Gord quickly put her at ease and, through constant coaching and encouragement, helped her excel at everything from setting sail, handling lines, safety, rescuing crew overboard, anchoring and even basic navigation. I have been a sailor for years and yet I still learned many things during the course that I didn’t know about the details shaping sails, working the wind and getting the best out of the ship.  I also learned a lot about safety and line handling as it pertains to sailboats.  We cant say enough about Gord’s course except that we think he does not charge enough.  Best value we have found in many years.
