Uncooperative Weather Policy
We will determine if the wind is too hazardous before leaving the dock. If conditions change while we are out sailing, we will return to safety as soon as possible.
Clothing
Our courses will proceed rain or shine unless wind conditions are too hazardous for safe sailing. Dressing in layers is essential, as there is often a significant temperature difference between the beach and the boat, especially in light breezes.
We recommend synthetic fabrics such as merino wool or polypropylene, as they are quick-drying and provide warmth even when wet. Avoid cotton and denim, as they tend to stay wet and cold once damp.
For sunny days, it can be cooler on the water, so consider bringing the following:
- A windbreaker
- A hat
- Sunglasses
- Sunblock
For rainy days, waterproof gear is necessary, including:
- A rain jacket
- Rain pants
- Waterproof footwear
Footwear
Closed-toed shoes are mandatory for walking on the deck; please avoid sandals or flip-flops. Ensure your shoes have non-marking soles (preferably white, light grey, or cream). Rubber boots with soft, non-marking soles are suitable for rainy days. Waterproof shoes are ideal, as the cockpit can get wet.
Please do not wear black-soled shoes unless they are explicitly labeled as non-marking.
