Our Courses

We are here to introduce and teach you sailing and cruising, in our sailboats or yours. Learn to sail during our day classes and practice sails, three-day condensed courses, or five-day or more liveaboard courses.  We also teach Marine VHF Radio ROC_M(DSC). Soon we will offer Basic and Intermediate Navigation but we can help you arrange to take the course. 

Introduction to Sailing

You can start with the 3 to 4 hour Introduction to Sailing/ Boating course where you will learn safety, leaving and returning to the dock. The rest of the time we will be out sailing and you can get a feel for what it is like to sail or just practice up on your long forgotten skills. 

ROC-M (DSC) VHF Marine Radio

ROC stands for Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Certificate and is required by anyone using a Marine VHF or MF-HF radio (each person on the boat who will use the radio needs their own card).

Basic Cruising Standard (Part 1)

This is one of the entry levels in the series of Sail Canada courses on sailing keelboats and on cruising, Two days on the water learning the basics. Good for individuals with minimal practical on water experience. This entry level course builds basic sailing skills with a focus on operation of the vessel as competent crew.

Basic Cruising Standard (Part 2)

3-day (Part 2) or 5- day Cruise and Learn (Part 1 and 2). Basic Cruising Standard (Day Skipper) Can be three days in a row or three days one week apart for locals. If you want to go for a liveaboard cruise and learn the same things try the 5-day Cruise and Learn but spend more time on the water.

Goal: To be able to cruise safely in local waters as both skipper and crew in moderate wind and sea conditions by day. 

Intermediate Cruising Standard

5 – days and 4 nights Bareboat Skipper Course on the water cruising on the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Southern Gulf Islands. With the ultimate goal of being able to cruise safely in local waters as both skipper and crew in moderate wind and sea conditions by day. This course is designed for those with experience on cruising sailboats in tidal waters.

Coastal Navigation

We offer the Basic and Intermediate Navigation at he same time. You study at home on your own schedule, write the Basic exam first and when you pass, we then schedule the Intermediate exam.
