    What to Bring

    To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience during your Mileage ...

    To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience during your Mileage Builder Cruising Course, please pack the following essentials:

    Sleeping: Bring a pillow, a sleeping bag, and a bottom sheet if you want the sleeping bag open.

    Footwear: Non-scuffing footwear such as boat shoes, Teva-type sandals, or tennis shoes. To check if your shoes are suitable, slide the edge of the sole on paper to see if they scuff.

    Clothing:

    • Foul Weather/Rain Gear: Essential for unexpected weather changes.
    • Layers: A fleece jacket, windbreaker, and sweater are advisable. During summer, rain gear may not be necessary, but it’s best to be prepared.
    Personal Items:
    • Sunglasses: Ensure they have a safety string and side protection.
    • Sunscreen: Use SPF 30 or higher to protect against sun exposure.
    • Cell Phone or Camera: Capture your sailing adventures.
    Entertainment: Reading material & games, such as books, magazines, or games for downtime.

    Important Documentation:
    • Current Driver’s License: Essential for identification.
    • Current Passport: Required if U.S. travel is planned.
    • Birth Certificate Copy: Only necessary for U.S. travel.
    • Next of Kin Contact Information: Important for emergencies.
    • PCOC Card: Proof of competency in boating safety.
    • Other Sailing Qualifications: Bring any relevant certificates.
    • Sailing Logbook: We can provide one if needed.
    • Evidence of Travel Insurance Coverage: Important for safety and peace of mind.
    • BC Tidal Fishing License: Required if you wish to fish or gather shellfish during your course.
