Overview of the ROC Course
The Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Certificate (ROC) is essential for anyone operating a marine VHF or MF-HF radio. Each individual on the boat using the radio must possess their own certificate.
If you received your ROC card before the introduction of Digital Selective Calling (DSC), we highly recommend retaking the exam to obtain your ROC-M card with the DSC endorsement.
By signing up, you will receive study materials and online access. After about three weeks, we will arrange an in-class 4-hour review and a 1-hour exam to ensure you’re fully prepared.
Highlights
- Can be challenged with the Basic Cruising Standard (5 Days) or in the classroom (min. 4 people)
- Marine Radio Course with Digital Selective Calling (ROC-M(DSC))
- Material supplied by us ahead of time for home study (book must be read before the classroom or challenge)
- Five-hour classroom review and exam. Once a month in Sooke
- Can be done online, but we need to make arrangements first
